I went out for lunch with Xavi yesterday to Gracia. We stopped in a little plaza and ate at a place called 'La Cerveseria'. Now we ate outside and it was great because now that Emmeline can walk she could have a little wonder about whilst we enjoyed our bravas.
Now what i loved about the place is that each waiter and waitress that passed by Emmeline as she was trying to explore inside the restaurant stopped and had some interaction with her. Either a little joke, or talking to her etc. They were really child friendly, unlike some places that are supposed to be child friendly but the staff don't even look at your child! They were able to provide me with a high chair. Now they only had one, and it didn't have straps, but Emmeline was very happy in her chair eating her food with us. I didn't have a look to see if there was a place to change her nappy, but you know what? For one it didn't bother me! Why? Because the staff were just so friendly to her!
After chatting to the staff, it turns out that inside there is an area for children with toys etc. It is currently closed off due to the fiestas de Gracia so I didn't have a chance to see it, but I will definitely be going back to have a look.
If you are looking for a place where the staff are actually baby friendly, then I recommend La Cerveseria!

Science Museum
I went to the Science Museum or Cosmo Caixa with Emmeline, Xavi and Yaincoa a few weeks ago. We mostly went for Yaincoa as I didn't really expect Emmeline to pay attention to anything or for anything to be of any interest to her!
Was I pleasantly surprised or what!
There was some of it that was boring, even for me! But there is a dinosaur exhibition on at the moment, so she was quite fascinated by the huge dinosaur skeletons, as was I! We then moved onto the experiments section. Yaincoa was in seventh heaven as for some reason he was bored with the dinosaurs (the whole reason we went!). Most of the experiments didn't catch Emmeline's eye. But she did start to laugh at the models of the monkey women and then the neanderthals! She just kept pointing and laughing! She was totally mesmerized by an experiment that consisted of white balls flying around in a glass box with white strobe light things! She couldn't stop looking. I freaked out for a minute worried that she was going to experience some kind of epileptic fit, but thankfully she didn't.
The best part was the amazon rainforest area. You can go outside and see the birds and the fish from above water. Every few seconds it rains over the water which was lovely. I let Emmeline put her fingers in the water until a coupled pointed to a sign that said you cant put your fingers in as there are flesh eating fish in the water and fingers look like food to them!!! Oops. Although I wasn't sure if this was true or if it was just a funny way to stop every one sticking their hands in the water and making it dirty!
Then from inside you can see the fish below the water. The glass is magnified making the already large fish seem larger as they lazily swim up and down. I set Emmeline down and she went straight up to the glass. She was fascinated and keep making her wow noises, looking at us, pointing at the fish and walking up and down following them. They swim so slowly that it was great for her, and it was the first time she had seem fish like that. She was having such a great time, and I had a tear in my eye watching all if this through her eyes - seeing fish for the first time was suddenly so exciting.
Emmeline didn't want to leave the fish and neither did I!
I would honestly go through the hassle of getting up there again simply to go back to the fish.
We had a great time, Emmeline had things to do and she really enjoyed herself. I would recommended the Cosmo Caixa whole heartedly!
There is also a baby changing facility and the staff seem pretty baby friendly.
Oh, Did i mention that it was quite cheap to get in! Added bonus!
