In Spain, there are no legal requirements for the bars and restaurants to have baby changing facilities. As you can imagine, this makes going out with your baby a bit difficult if she happens to dirty her nappy. Your choices are limited: find a public bank, find a table, put a few chairs together, hope the basins in the toilets are big enough to lay you baby down or leave her to sit in her dirty nappy until you get home. Not adequate or appealing. As a parent I feel dissapointed that I have to walk around with a fear in the back of my head incase my daughter does infact have a poo! Therefore I have started an online petition to see if I can get enough signatures together then perhaps a difference can be made.Please can you take 5 minutes of you time to go and sign the petition. Even if you don´t have children, or you dont live in Spain, please think about all of us and our babies and show your support.
In the meantime, one of the Barcelona mommies, Imogen Duthie has started a facebook page (Facebook page "Por más cambiadores y tronas en los locales de BCN") for the same cause and has started to compile a list of current bars and restaurants that currently have baby changing facilities. Listed below are all the current locations and a link to the google map showing their locations.
